On the 28th March 2024, our first DreamTeam tour party since Covid, flew out from OR Tambo Airport and travelled to John F Kennedy International Airport in New York.
The Bantwana College ladies U17 Soccer team became our 6th DreamTeam Tour.
It was the Easter weekend and after spending our first night in a New York Hotel, we headed for a local American town, team-building and preparing ourselves for what lay ahead.
The ladies quickly adjusted to the cold weather and by the first game were able to adapt to the American arteficial grass surfaces, still slick with snow.
We spent 10 days hosted in the homes of our American hosts, where many life-long friendships were formed as we were very well looked after, thoroughly spoilt and well-fed.
We played 4 games, aquitting ourselves really well, with many of our young players catching the eye.
Our visits included the Oliver Ames High School, Currie College University, We got Soccer and Stonehill University, where we were able to play a practice game.
One of the highlights of our trip was being able to watch an MLS match at the Gillette Stadium.
We trained with the legendary Coach John Barata and various NFC coaches and it was a very happy group who returned to South Africa on completion of a very succesful and enjoyable trip.
