Dream Team 2017

On the 7th April 2017, 16 young Soccer players flew out from OR Tambo Airport to the Logan International Airport in Boston, for the second DreamTeam visit to the USA. Once again the 19-day trip was arranged around 5 competitive Soccer matches, numerous training-sessions and the usual amazing New York trip, where we climbed the Empire State Building and sailed around the whole of New York City.

Due in the main to the increased size of the DreamTeam squad, the team stayed in two different venues, with the senior members in a very fashionable South Kingston holiday home, while the rest once again stayed in the Beach Resort double-story home, just 80m from the Beach in the picturesque Narragansett. We were once again hosted for meals and visits in the homes of an amazing set of Coaches, Parents and players of the Rhode Island Rams Soccer structures from U12 – U18 teams.

The team had numerous training sessions with local Coaches from the Rams Soccer Club in Rhode Island . We were also able to have two sessions with Coach Todd Dalessandro in Simsbury and Coach John Barata in Easton, where they were once again fully evaluated and assessed. A huge highlight for the team was the match against the under 18 team of USA MLS team New England Revolution, played in the amazing Gillette Stadium.

The players returned to South Africa, tired and happy and with a renewed sense of respect for the playing standard of both school and university teams in the USA.
